# Seeing who owns a stock

> Find the biggest investors, hedge funds and insiders in a company, and how their positions changed quarter to quarter.

## What the Ownership page shows you

* **Quarter selector** — the reporting quarter you're looking at.
* **Largest investors**, **Largest hedge fund owners** and **Largest insider owners** — the top three holders in each group, ranked by the value of their position.
* **Holdings table** — the company's reported holders, with position size, share of the company, share of their own portfolio, average price paid, and the change since last quarter.

## Where to find it

1. Open the company and select **Research** under its name in the left-hand navigation.
2. In the research tabs, select **Ownership**.

## Using the Ownership page

### Pick a quarter

The quarter selector at the top right shows the reporting quarter. Use **Previous quarter** and **Next quarter** to move between quarters. An arrow grays out at the earliest or latest quarter Sterling has.

### Largest investors, hedge fund owners and insider owners

The three lists at the top each show the top three holders for the quarter. A dash means no holder qualified in that group for that quarter. Select a name to ask [the Analyst](/analyst/what-is-the-analyst) about that holder.

### Work the holdings table

The table lists the company's reported holders. Holders with 0.01% of the company or less aren't shown.

* Select a column header to sort. Sort by **Δ vs. Last Quarter** to see who added and who cut, or by **% of Portfolio** to find holders for whom this is a high-conviction position.
* Choose how many rows to show at the bottom, and page with **Previous page** and **Next page**.
* Select a holder's name to ask the Analyst about it.

| **Firm** | The holder |
| **Firm Type** | The kind of holder, such as an asset manager or a bank |
| **Position** | The value of the holding |
| **Shares** | Shares held |
| **% Ownership** | The holding as a share of the company |
| **% of Portfolio** | The holding as a share of the firm's own portfolio |
| **Avg Price Paid** | The firm's average cost per share |
| **Δ vs. Last Quarter** | The change in the position since the previous quarter |
| **Quarter First Owned** | When the firm first reported the stock |

## Frequently asked questions

### The table says "No holdings found."

No holdings have been reported for that quarter yet. Try the previous quarter.

### How current is ownership?

Institutional holdings are reported quarterly, so the latest quarter available is the most recent reporting period.
