What the Portfolio overview shows you

  • The KPI row sums up the whole book: its value, returns, today’s biggest movers, risk and exposure.
  • The chart plots the book, a position or a trade over time. See Portfolio charts.
  • Positions lists what you hold. Trade Log and Activity sit beside it and cover your trades and cash movements. See Trade Log and Activity.

Where to find it

Select My Portfolio in the left-hand navigation. The overview is the page that opens.

Using the Portfolio overview

Filtering by brokerage

Select a brokerage in the page header to narrow Positions, Trade Log and Activity to that brokerage, or All for every account. The KPI row and the chart always cover the whole book. Hover a brokerage to see when it last synced.

KPI row

Outside market hours, the cards show their values from the last session’s close. If Sterling can’t work out a figure, the card shows a row of dots instead. Hover the dots for the reason.

Positions

Above the table, Weight shows how much of the book is invested, with Total value, Cash and Buying power beside it. Select a row to add it to the chart. While rows are selected, Weight shows their combined share of the book instead. To see which holdings are priced live, and why a figure can differ from your broker’s, see How the portfolio numbers are computed.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my open-position return zero after I sold at a profit?

It only counts positions you hold now. Gains on positions you’ve sold are excluded, so selling a position takes its gain out of the figure. Your realized results are in the Trade Log.

A holding appears twice.

A security held in two accounts appears as two rows. The Broker column tells them apart.
